SCENE DESCRIPTION

The final diagonal pan shot of this scene, completing the series begun in Milieu #0004 and continued in Milieu #0005.

IMPRESSIONS

Just to get a small idea of the look and size of what is probably some sort of energy transmission hub, I opened the three images in Photoshop and arranged them diagonally, incomplete and all. It made this thing even more impressive and I may include it in my scraps as an added reference one day. Further to the scope of it, be aware that, in a moment, WHEELJACK will be coming up through a small part of the grating of the canal below and, I believe, is not even tall enough to reach the edges of it. Given that our favourite mechanical engineer is no dwarf himself, the largesse of this room dramatically increases.

The painters were such a credit to the series in being able to provide such beauty even to an area as disposable as this that I feel it a great shame that diagonal camera pans often leave so much of their work unseen. I suppose it is possible that they were given stage direction indicating that they only needed to paint slightly beyond what was shown, but I doubt it. I find it more likely that they would have painted a proper fleshed-out backdrop to be filmed as the animators saw fit -- and remember, time was always short on this series, making it difficult if not impossible to plan everything in the smallest detail ahead of -- or even during -- production.
