HISTORY & CLARIFICATION
This slight effect looks good in the scene where UNICRON reveals his true form, red lights shining all over his body, as GALVATRON stands on the surface of the behemoth, looking in horrified surprise at what unfolds. The lights shine so brightly that they bounce off the metallic surface of the Decepticon leader's body -- and we never again get to witness normally so fearless a character looking this terrified. This image is another exhibit in the pile of evidence that shows a Transformer's optics are flexible. We have previously seen OPTIMUS PRIME pinch his eyes shut, HOUND and MIRAGE blink theirs, and, earlier in this film, STARSCREAM winking as he throws MEGATRON into space. Here, we see GALVATRON's eyes widen markedly in fear, whereas his normally sloped optics would only have made him appear defiantly angry.
