LIFESPAN
SEASON ONE - SEASON TWO - THE MOVIE - SEASON THREE
BEGINNINGS 1998 - 2000
JAZZ was always a very pleasing character for me to iconize, and I think even the earliest versions still look pretty well passable considering their time of creation. That does not mean he was necessarily an easy fellow to capture this way. With him, it was primarily a question of size requirements. By the end of this initial period, very few changes were made, as the alterations were mainly confined to his cheek guards and that ever-challenging form of angled antennae. The "vented" cheek guards were also too simply depicted, though I did not see that as a problem back then.
SECOND WIND 2007 - 2011
The size issue was not addressed until the second 2007 iteration came along, which I thought was good enough that the only real difference implemented in the first 2009 effort was an improved colour scheme. Somehow, though, I knew the question of enlargment had not yet been properly answered and the lack of a visible neck was also beginning to bother me a touch, so another late-end 2009 version was bound to follow. That iteration marked the beginning of much more animation-similar JAZZ, with an especial improvement to his optical visor, finally giving it a level of style appropriate to its owner. Then, with scale considerations and the introduction of complete necks entering the perspective of my work in general, another update followed in 2011. And finally, because I began seeing that those characters with antennae and prongs would have to be evaluated a little differently in terms of size, the latest incarnation was undertaken.
