THE ELECTRUMITES
Updated Wednesday, July 21, 2010

This concept took an astoundingly long time to conceive, given my huge fondness for the episode that introduced the invulnerability-inducing compound. I initially began playing with "golden" icons in the autumn of 1997, essentially for fun -- then a long way away from having rendered every major Autobot or Decepticon character as icon images.

I elected to make a full collection of the 28 electrum-plated characters in June of 2002, albeit with a colour scheme that initially felt authentic but needed to be far warmer. In 2007, all 28 faces were redesigned, and the gold with them.

In 2009, another new round was initiated, with another new colour scheme. A few tweaks will also be made over the course of 2010.

I thought the Electrumites was a band or something...LOL...just kidding!

Looks nice and shiny. I get a kick out of the scene where the cons are shooting at each other because their invincible.

What, like a 28-piece orchestra of assorted Autos and Deceps? That would take some kind of armistice, all right!

Most likely short-lived...it would erupt into a fight the minute someone hit a wrong note.

Judging by STARSCREAM's</B< reaction to the Constructi-horns in the movie, it may even take less than a wrong note.

This is brilliant work, not many people take notice of some G1 episodes and "The Golden Lagoon" episode was 1 I will always remember.
Best moment in that episode was when Omega Supreme rises out of the fountain of Electrum, then that says it all for the Decepticons!
Well done Rik on this piece. ^_^V

Yes! THE GOLDEN LAGOON was always one of my favourite episodes and a pretty large factor in my nostalgia for the '80s. It made me a big fan of Beachcomber for quite a long time. :-)

And agreed -- Omega Supreme is cool on any day of the week, but that was truly one of his "shining" moments. ;-)
