HISTORY & CLARIFICATION
In the same early scene that contains a significant amount of colouring errors, it appears that the people responsible for colour keys were quite focused on SURESHOT, because not only did they apply the colours of SPOILSPORT, his partner, to the form of OPTIMUS PRIME, ULTRA MAGNUS can be seen, lower legs only, at the top of the screen, wearing SURESHOT's colours. I can sort of see why; the detailing on their lower legs are at least widely similar, though it should definitely have been possible to differentiate. With so many new characters introduced at once and with so little time to make them distinctive -- exacerbated by the fact that a certain sameness was beginning to creep into the design ideology -- perhaps one can forgive them for the odd mistake, though it is exceedingly rare that they come close to working for the character to whom it is applied. In this case, ULTRA MAGNUS could have turned out looking quite dull for it, but I admit I have seen worse.
